What is a recreational park trailer,
park model or park trailer? |

| Answer: |
A "park trailer," "park
model" or "recreation park trailer" is defined as a recreational
vehicle that does not exceed 400 square feet when in the set-up mode, is
built on a single chassis, mounted on wheels, and may be connected to utilities
in order to operate the trailer's fixtures and appliances. OAR 918-525-0005(28). |

If a park trailer has a loft,
is the loft included in the park trailers square footage? |

| Answer: |
No. Vertical multi-level additions
such as basements, second stories, lofts (mezzanines) or overhead storage
with a maximum ceiling height of five feet are not included in the park
trailer's 400 square feet. |

Should a park trailer get titled
and registered by DMV or should a park trailer get an ownership document
from the county assessors office? |

| Answer: |
- If a park trailer is 8 and one-half feet wide or less it can be titled
and registered with the Department of Motor Vehicles.
- If the park trailer is more than 8 and a half feet wide it is defined
as a "manufactured structure" in Oregon Revised Statute 446.561.
Manufactured structures must be recorded with, and receive an ownership
document from, the local county assessors office

What permits are required to transport a park
trailer in Oregon? |

| Answer: |
- Park trailers 8 and one half feet wide or less may require an oversize
permit issued by the Department of Transportations Motor
Carrier Division: (503) 378-0000 or www.oregon.gov/ODOT
- If a park trailer is more than 8 and one half feet wide it is considered
a manufactured structure and must have a trip permit if it is going
to be moved over Oregon roads. Trip permits can be purchased at the
local county assessors office. These park trailers may also require
an oversize permit issued by the Department of Transportations
Motor Carrier Division: (503) 378-0000 or www.oregon.gov/ODOT

Yes. With the park owners
or managers permission, park trailers may be sited in manufactured
dwelling parks. |

Yes. With the approval of the
local planning department, park trailers may be sited on private land. |

(installation) permits? |

Park trailers exceeding 8 ½
feet in width require installation permits. Installation requires following
the rules in OAR 918-530-005 through 918-530-0340. Contact your local building
department for additional information. |

Can the transporter or manufacturer
who delivered the park trailer remove the axles, wheels, tires and hitch? |

Yes. |

Can detached transportation equipment,
including axles, wheels, tires and hitch be removed from the site? |

| Answer: |
No. Detached transportation equipment
must be left on the site for future use. It may not be sold to a dealer
or recycler. |

If a park trailer, accessory
building or accessory structure is being set-up (installed) by a dealer,
manufacturer or private contractor are they required to be licensed? |

Installations of park trailers
over 8 ½ feet in width require a Construction Contractors Board (CCB)
license. In addition, a person (or business) who makes on-site electrical
or plumbing installations must possess the proper plumbing, electrical or
manufactured dwelling installer license (see 918-515-0150). |

Is a permit needed to add a deck
adjacent to a park trailer? |

| Answer: |
Generally, a deck 30 inches or
more above ground requires a permit. Contact your local building department
for additional information. |

Cabanas for Park Trailers

What is a cabana? |
|
|
| Answer: |
A cabana is a stationary, lightweight structure
with two or more walls used to provide additional living space. ORS 446.003(5). |

What is the maximum square footage allowed for
a cabana that is adjacent to a park trailer? |
|
|
| Answer: |
240 square feet. OAR 918-530-0320(1)(b). |

| Question: |
Can a cabana be powered by the park trailers
electrical system? |
|
|
| Answer: |
No. Accessory structures and buildings may not
be powered by a park trailer's electrical system. OAR 918-530-0070(2). |

Are there any restrictions for the intended use
of a cabana? |
|
|
| Answer: |
Yes. Cabanas may not be designed or constructed
to include sleeping or cooking facilities. Cabanas also may not contain
gas, liquid or solid fuel-burning fireplaces, fireplace stoves, room heaters
or pellet-fired appliances. OAR 918-530-0320(1)(a) and (c). |

a manufactured structures dealer license? |

| Answer: |
Park trailers over 8 1/2 feet
wide require a manufactured structures dealer license. A park trailer owner
may be able to sell the park trailer without a license. See ORS 446.671
