Code Clarifications and Corrections

The following are clarifications or corrections, by section, to the 2002 Oregon Manufactured Dwelling and Parks Specialty Code.

1-11.1(d) Direct supervision is considered to be 85% of the time.
1-9.7(d) Lost HUD labels may only be reissued by the manufacturer of the home. The Building Codes Division can no longer issue replacement labels.
3-2.4.2 Floodways. This section has been amended by Temporary Administrative Rule 918-500-0021.
3-2.5.2 Seismic Zone 3. A home installed in seismic Zone 4 is only required to be anchored if the home exceeds 3 feet in height for 75% of the main frame piers.
3-2.5.3 Seismic Zone 4. A home installed in seismic Zone 4 is only required to be anchored if the home exceeds 2 feet in height for 75% of the main frame piers.
3-5.2(f) Precast concrete masonry units are considered to be capable of holding 15,000 pounds.
3-9.8(c) CMU footings shall be 12 inches x 5 ½ inches deep concrete.
3-9.9(d) ICF footings shall be 12 inches x 5 ½ inches deep concrete.

3-12.2 Temporary steps. Only one set of temporary steps is required.

Table 3-B A concrete runner or slab is considered equal to 2300 psf soil.
Table 3-B Note: 10 foot wide homes are not required to be perimeter supported except at the doors and any opening greater than 48 inches.
4-3.4(c) Factory installed service equipment is not required to contain a means for connecting accessory buildings, accessory structures, or additional electrical equipment located outside a manufactured dwelling. This is an interpretation by HUD.
4-4.4(b) Self drilling or self tapping screws are acceptable as paint penetrating bonding devices.

Table 5-C Add note 3. PVC, ABS, and PE pipes are only allowed outside of the building line.
6-3.10 When a water heater pan is installed, the pan shall be drained outside of the skirting line. The pressure/temperature relief piping cannot be terminated into the pan, it must terminate beneath the home.
Chapter 8 Decks must not be supported by the home and must not be secured tightly to the exterior siding.
8-4.4(d) Cementitious board may be used as an equivalent fire resistive material. Consult with the authority having jurisdiction.
